First Aid Workshop

This training will be a comprehensive, full day course which will include the following: 

  • Nationally recognised certificate on successful completion of HLTAID009 CPR

  • Nationally recognised certificate on successful completion of HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

  • Certificates are recognised by AMSA and are valid for 12 months for CPR and 3 years for First Aid

  • Access to a private online learning portal to complete pre-learning.

  • Specialised training with specific focus on potential illness and injuries contextualised to marine pilot’s workplace environment

  • The understanding and application of the onboard medical kit and equipment.

  • Introduction of additional recommended medical equipment, its use and application.

ATSB Accident Investigation

  • Facilitated by: Tristan Shandy, Manager Transport Safety

  • Cost: $299

This informative workshop will provide attendees with a foundational understanding of how the ATSB conducts transport safety investigations across the aviation, rail, and marine sectors. Participants will gain insight into the core principles of the ATSB’s investigation methodology, including how incidents are assessed, evidence is gathered, and contributing factors are analysed.

Designed for those with an interest in maritime safety and incident response, the session will also explore the techniques used by investigators in the field and the process of translating findings into safety recommendations aimed at preventing future occurrences.

Peer Support Workshop

  • Facilitated by: Keith McGregor, AMPI Support Psychologist

  • Cost: $89

  • CPD Points: 5

  • Wednesday 5 November, 10am - 4pm

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:

• Understand the principles and boundaries of peer support

• Apply a clear structure to guide the conversation

• Recognize signs of stress, fatigue, trauma, and mental distress in colleagues

• Use the Four Levels of listening and insightful questioning techniques

• Adopt a solution-focused approached based on three key questions

• Know when and how to escalate or refer concerns

• Maintain confidentiality and self-care as a peer supporter

The workshop involves discussion, practice and shared experiences with a focus on practical skills and techniques.
